Sheckler News: Book fair purchases due soon

The annual fall Scholastic book fair continues through Oct. 25. This year’s theme is “Time Machine: Reading Can Take You Anywhere!”

The fair has a virtual option that includes a 360-degree tour available at scholastic.com/bf/sheckler. Shop from the site with the same exclusive titles as the in-school fair and have orders shipped directly to your home. There is free shipping on book-only orders over $25.

Reminder: Parents of Sheckler Elementary School students who are participating in online learning should have received an email with a survey regarding a transition back to traditional learning.

The survey was expected back Oct. 16.

Thank you to Catasauqua Fire Department and North Catasauqua Fire Department for visiting Sheckler Elementary on fire prevention day Oct. 16.

The annual Sheckler Halloween parade is canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students will not be permitted to dress up in their Halloween costumes.

Instead, a fall festival has been planned to keep spirits high. Activities include pumpkin decorating, grade-level fall theme decorating and fall fun classroom parties.

There will be an early dismissal - 1:30 p.m. - Oct. 28 for grades kindergarten through fourth grade.

Organizers of Mrs. Nothstein’s Helping Hands Fund are taking digital orders now through Oct. 30. Sales include crowd favorites of halupki, haluski, filling, apple dumplings and three flavors of kiffles.

Pickup is Nov. 15 in the social hall of St. John Fisher Church, 1239 Third St., North Catasauqua.

Money raised supports many Sheckler students and families.

Sheckler is now partnering with Weis Markets for the Weis 4 School program. Earn money for your school by registering a Weis club card with a special school code and scan it at checkout.

Available via Google Classroom, virtual students have this option every morning just as those students inside the classroom.
