Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. The 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents’ names are Dana Sten and Christopher Sten. My siblings names are Keith Sten, Katelyn Aguilar, brother-in-law Sal Aguilar, Alex Sten and Brianna Sten. My pets are Star (dog) and Jasper (cat).

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. I like science because it is fun to learn. I like to figure out how things function, what they are made of and how it interacts with our environment. I love that science gives you never-ending questions that keeps you on your toes searching for the answers.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I received a leadership award in ninth grade in Global Science Inquiry. I received an academic excellence in 10th grade for Algebra Honors. I have achieved the honor roll all three years. I am in National Honor Society.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has COVID-19 impacted these activities?

A. I am a member of Hornet Ambassadors. COVID-19 has limited the events and activities that take place during the school year. Unfortunately I am unable to interact and help others with guidance in EHS. I am in Pals Club, a club where we spend time organizing parties and events with kids with disabilities. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 I am unable to see my Pals friends and connect and spend time with them. I work at Mill Creek Pizza. Fortunately things have been going well despite COVID-19 but it is upsetting to not be able to see my customers’ faces and interact with them.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. Doing online school has been my biggest challenge this year. Unfortunately it is hard to truly learn and understand the curriculum by looking through a screen.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I intend to go to college and get my degree in biology. My top four colleges I am applying to are Randolph Macon, Bucknell, University of Richmond and the College of William and Mary. I hope after graduating from college that I will get accepted to medical school.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my mom. I take after my mom who is a very dedicated, hardworking, understanding and kindhearted woman. She always puts 110 percent into everything and is constantly putting others before herself. I hope I can be like the amazing person she is.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I want to be remembered for my hard work and dedication to my studies. I also want to be remembered for my kindness.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Give back to your community and leave a positive footprint.
