OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY

Fenon makes honor roll

Chad J. Fenon, of Northampton, a senior majoring in renewable materials, was named to the scholastic honor roll for the spring term of 2020 at Oregon State University. A total of 7,004 students earned a B-plus (3.5) or better to make the listing. To be on the honor roll, students must carry at least 12 graded hours of course work.

WIDENER UNIVERSITY

Students graduate

Widener University conferred degrees to more than 1,100 undergraduate and graduate students this year. The university created a digital hub to celebrate the milestone accomplishments of the 2020 graduates from a safe distance. The graduates are also invited to participate in a rescheduled commencement ceremony at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts in May 2021.

The graduates hailed from 33 states, from Pennsylvania to Hawaii, and six different countries, including Iceland, Saudi Arabia and Morocco. The youngest graduate was 20 years old, while the oldest was 67.

More than 650 students graduated from York College of Pennsylvania May 31.

KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY

Students graduate

Kutztown University has conferred degrees for more than 1,200 students for the spring 2020 semester. Kutztown University announces degree conferment twice a year, once in the winter and once in the summer. Commencement exercises are held in May and December; however, students finish the requirements for graduation throughout the entire year. The following students have been awarded degrees following the spring 2020 semester. The cumulative GPA necessary for honors distinction is: with honor (cum laude) 3.4; with high honor (magna cum laude) 3.6; and with highest honor (summa cum laude) 3.8.

BATES COLLEGE

Schierwagen earns dean’s list for two sessions

Grace Schierwagen, of Northampton, was named to the dean’s list at Bates College for the fall semester ending in December 2019 and for the winter semester ending in April 2020. Schierwagen, the child of William G. Schierwagen and Susan R. Schierwagen, of Northampton, is a 2018 graduate of Gould Academy. This is a distinction earned by students whose cumulative grade-point average is 3.8 or higher.
