Zachary Johnson Zachary holds a placard gifted to him by family friend, Dr. Susan Perry. Like his Liberty HS classmates and Class of 2020 graduates everywhere, senior Zachary would not enjoy the pomp and circumstance of the traditional commencement exercise to signify a major accomplishment in his young life. The coronavirus changed all of that for this year's graduates. Zach made honor roll every marking period, is the recipient of the ‘silver cord' for his 339 volunteer hours, played the sousaphone in the Liberty HS Grenadier Band, tuba in both the concert band and philharmonic youth brass ensemble, and string bass in the orchestra. He is an avid bowler and received a scholarship from the Pennsylvania State United States Bowling Congress. He will attend Penn State University to major in mechanical engineering and is the son of Jodie Johnson. Zach says about this unique situation, “The Class of 2020 was brought into the world during the uncertain time following 9-11 and will be graduating with a type of uncertainty that yet has to be faced. I see this as a way of moving forward redefining a new purpose, a time to be resourceful and a time to remake a better tomorrow. I will be a proud graduate of the Class of 2020 and am ready to conquer the world!”
This sign in front of the Johnson residence lets passersby know that a proud Class of 2020 Liberty HS Grenadier resides there.
