NMIH Engineering exhibit extended to Aug. 30

The National Museum of Industrial History has extended the “Art of Precision: The Engineered Sculpture of Christopher Bathgate” exhibit through August 30. More than 20 sculptures show how computer-mediated fabrication may bridge the divide between art, craft, and industrial production in the Digital Age. The artist is a self-trained machinist using handmade tools, automated CNC milling machines and metal lathes to create complex artistic expressions inspired by industry. To see photos of the exhibit, visit www.nmih.org/art-of-precision-engineered-sculpture-of-christopher-bathgate/.

The museum is now reopened at a 50% capacity from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a timed ticketing system Friday through Sunday until further notice. Advance tickets may be purchased at www.nmih.org. Sanitizing stations have been implemented throughout the museum, touch less soap dispensers have been installed in the museum’s bathrooms, signage has been placed throughout the space to ensure proper social distancing between visitors, and frequently touched areas have been modified or removed. A Plexiglas barrier has been mounted at the museum’s front desk and all staff and visitors over the age of four are required to wear masks while inside the museum facilities.
