LHS girls hoped for run

Liberty’s girls lacrosse team was looking to replace a large senior class from a year ago, following their 8-10 campaign from last season.

The Hurricanes had 10 seniors coming back this season, but as we all know with sports being canceled for the spring, those seniors won’t have a chance to test their mettle in the East Penn Conference.

Still, head coach Laurie Ann Muller had high hopes for the team before the coronavirus canceled the spring season.

“We were excited to hopefully get back on the field,” said Muller. “Our team graduated 12 seniors last year, but we have 10 seniors again this year. Our goal as a team was to make districts after being so close last year.”

That goal will now be put on hold but the key returners this spring for Muller’s squad included Mia Del Corso (Sr., midfield), Hannah Stein (Sr., midfield), Brooke Veit (Jr., midfield), Emma Gray (Jr., attack), Delilah Rivera (Sr., defense), Ryah Carpenter (Sr., attack) and Savannah Wooten (Sr., goalie).

Newcomers included Olivia King (Sr., attack), Natalia Leiria (Jr., defense) and Sara Fuehrer (Sr., defense).
