Public Library of Catasauqua: Summer reading programs planned
Join us as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing during summer reading 2019.
Parents, register your children ages 4 through 12th grade in person at the library. Our programs are guaranteed to be of high interest for all ages.
All programs are 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays except one - Animals in Space is 4:30 p.m. and designated a teen-only event.
• June 18 - Summer reading begins with Catasauqua Garden Club helping plant flowers in pots to take home. This year, the flowers represent the sun, moon and stars.
• June 25 - Decorate moon landing cupcakes with Blondie.
• July 2 - Skype to Japan for a star festival with storyteller Karen Maurer.
• July 9 - Make and launch your own rocket with the Da Vinci Science Center.
• July 16 - Professor Gary from Moravian College guides us through the July 20, 1969, moon landing. The Apollo 11 mission launched July 16, 1969.
• July 16 - Teens get to learn about animals in space. This program is 4:30 p.m.
• July 23 - Watch NASA’s acclaimed movie “Apollo 11,” a film for all ages.
• July 30 - Summer reading 2019 concludes with the traditional visit from Officer Wiseman, K-9 Zora and Oogie’s Ice Cream truck with treats for everyone.
