A fundraiser to benefit the family of a father and son who lost their lives in a house fire in January was held April 27 at Becky’s Drive-In Theatre, Berlinsville.

Bruce A. “Buddy” Miller Jr. and his son, Bruce Alan Miller, died after a fire broke out at their home on Blue Mountain Drive, Danielsville, Jan. 21.

The drive-in was the meeting site for the Miller Memorial Ride, which featured hundreds of bikes and riders from numerous motorcycle clubs in the area.

Marshall Mauer, of Allentown and a member of the Lehigh Valley Hawk Motorcycle Club, said, “We love to ride, and we love to do it for a good cause.”

Coordinator Janet Sheats, of Danielsville, added, “Seventy-five percent of the proceeds go to the Miller family, and 25 percent go to the Lehigh Township Police Department to offset the cost of a bulletproof vest for K-9 officer Cash. We are also raising funds for Pennsylvania State Police Camp Cadet in Orefield.”

Another highlight of the day was a car show, which brought in many classic vehicles as well as newer 4x4s and luxury SUVs. The outdoor theater’s rows were full of auto oddities and machines of the past, with tint and chrome everywhere.

“There are three car shows in the area today, but we chose the most important event,” said Bob Drago, of Schnecksville, who drove to Lehigh Township in his 1923 Ford C-Cab.

The brisk wind didn’t scare off the blanket-sporting table vendors, who sold candles, figurines, hemp and CBD products, outdoor decor, women’s fashions, cigars and cookware.

Baked goods, ice cream and walking tacos were munched on heartily as people bid on baskets and items at the silent auction. Children rode the Becky’s Express train across the property and stopped in at the face painting and balloon stands.
