NAHS graduate earns Eagle rank

Christian G. Stezelberger, son of Jayne and Gerard Stezelberger of Washington Township, will receive his Eagle Scout badge, the highest award attainable in the Boy Scouts of America, at a special Eagle Court of Honor Oct. 21 at Hope Lutheran Church, Tatamy.

Stezelberger began Scouting in the second grade as a Wolf Cub with Pack 242, sponsored by Hope Lutheran Church, Lehigh Township. He earned the Cub Scout ranks, including the highest award available, the Arrow of Light. While in fifth grade, he bridged over to Troop 242 as a Boy Scout.

He later moved to Troop 362 at East Hills Moravian Church, Bethlehem.

On his path to Eagle, he held the positions of quartermaster, librarian, assistant patrol leader and patrol leader. He earned a total of 26 merit badges.

Stezelberger attended both Camp Minsi and Camp Trexler and was also a counselor in training at Camp Minsi, Pocono Summit, in 2015.

For his Eagle service project, he organized and collected donations for U.S. military troops. Through donations and collection points, he was able to send 50 large priority-mail boxes of goods to Lehigh Valley-based troops serving overseas. He organized the project and led 27 workers in 77 hours of work in conjunction with Support the Troops, a nonprofit organization.

A recent graduate of Northampton Area High School, Stezelberger was also very active at Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School. He took three classes concurrently, electrical construction, precision machining and electronic manufacturing. He was a member of the National Technical Honor Society for 2016-17 and 2017-18. He was also a member of SkillsUSA and was the Pennsylvania SkillsUSA District 11 champion and Skills- USA Pennsylvania state champion, both for industrial motor control. He then placed eighth in the nation at the SkillsUSA national competition in Louisville, Ky., this past summer. Stezelberger also attended Hoover Karate Academy, 2007-15, and achieved Black Belt rank in Kwan Ru Fu Chi Do.

He currently is attending Northampton Community College and is enrolled in the electromechanical program, where he is pursuing an associate degree.
