Richard D. “Ozz” Oswald, 84, of Longswamp Township, died June 9, 2018, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He married the love of his life, Nancy A. (Worrell) Oswald on July 30, 1955. He was a son of the late Warren J. and Helen (Geist) Oswald.

Richard retired in 1992 as an elevator mechanic for Schindler-Haughton Elevator Company, Allentown. Prior, he worked for Otis Elevator Company, Lehigh Valley Dairy and Caloric Corporation.

He was a member of the TRF Car Club, British Car Club of the Lehigh Valley and the Longswamp Township Historical Society.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Carol L. and her husband Anthony Dignazio, of Topton, Kathy A., of Mertztown, Scott D., of Mertztown, David A. and his wife Kimberly (Rauenzahn), of Mertztown, James M. and his wife Donna (Fox), of Hoover, Ala. and Julie L. and her husband Alan Bates, of Mertztown; sisters, Carolyn, Mary, Kathryn; brother, Paul; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Bronson, Sydney, Dillon, Julia, Zebulun, David and Shane; Australian Shepherd, Bear; and his parrot Bobby. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda; and a brother, Warren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Richard’s memory to the American Cancer Society Lehigh Valley Unit, 3893 Adler Place, Suite 170, Bethlehem, 18017 or to a charity of your choice.

A gathering to commemorate Richard’s life is being planned. Relatives and friends are asked to contact a member of the family for details.
