Garrett S. Runey, Lt. Col. USAF (ret.)

Garrett S. “Gary” Runey, Lt. Col. USAF (ret.), 96, of Emmaus, died June 5, 2018, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Diane A. (Riu) Runey. Born in Brooklyn, Wis., he was the son of the late Stanley M. and Ethel Mae (Miller) Runey.

He retired as a lieutenant colonel from the United States Air Force after 30 years of service. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and served his country as a pilot during World War II, Korea and Vietnam wars.

He enjoyed golfing, travel, reading and flying.

Following retirement he owned a small auto parts business.

He is survived by his wife; children: Patricia A. Brantley, Garrett S. II, Kathleen E. Plyler, Michael G., Rosalie Waldraff; stepchildren: Shannah Halper, William Grube; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was predeceased by three grandchildren and seven siblings.
