Softball team gets 1-0 victory over LHS

Entering its April 30 clash with Liberty, the Northampton softball team had scored double-digit runs in half of its games, including five games with 15 or more runs.

Against the Hurricanes, all they needed was one.

The K-Kids (11-4) topped Liberty 1-0 behind another strong performance from sophomore starting pitcher Madison Biechy. Northampton’s ace scattered three singles and a walk over seven innings to pick up the win.

Senior Brandi Davidson knocked in junior Hannah Boggs with an RBI triple in the fourth inning for the game’s only run. Sophomore Madison Fraley went 2-for-3, including a line drive off the center field fence.

“Biechy has been throwing really well and she’s been pitching her heart out every game,” Fraley said. “We just need to keep backing her up and continue to play good defense.”

Biechy finished the contest with seven strikeouts.

The K-Kids have won their last four games to secure a District XI playoff berth. Three of those four victories have come via shutout.

Northampton travels to Pocono Mountain East on Friday, May 4 before closing out the regular season with home games against Parkland on May 7 and Nazareth on May 9.
