Kids Wrap: Volleyball team stays hot

Northampton’s boys’ volleyball team continues its march toward a District XI playoff berth. The K-Kids (7-4) split their two matches last week with a win over Easton and a loss to Whitehall. Northampton travels to William Allen on Friday, April 27 followed by a home match against Freedom on Saturday, April 28.

The baseball team (5-8) dropped three close games to Stroudsburg, Nazareth and Central Catholic. In the 11-9 loss to the Mountaineers, Isaac Tucker went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored. Timmy Antigua went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored.

The K-Kids and Blue Eagles went to extra innings at Coca-Cola Park on April 21 with Nazareth pulling out a 3-2 win. Starting pitcher Cole Rufe allowed one earned run in seven innings with seven strikeouts.

Northampton and Central Catholic combined for 31 runs, 30 hits and seven errors in their game on April 23. Every K-Kids starter recorded a hit in the 18-13 contest. Antigua went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored.

The K-Kids travel to Whitehall on Friday, April 27 then go to Emmaus on Monday, April 30.

Northampton’s softball team improved to 8-4 on the season with shutout wins over Stroudsburg and Central Catholic and a tight loss to Nazareth.

Against the Vikettes, Heather Alich went 3-for-3 with two singles and a double. Emily Stuhldreher had an RBI single and an RBI triple in the contest. Elizabeth Moore had two doubles and knocked in two runs. Sophomore Madison Biechy tossed the scoreless game.

The K-Kids have back-to-back road games at Whitehall on Friday, April 27 then Kutztown on Saturday, April 28.

The boys’ lacrosse team (3-10) played a couple thrillers last week, beating Pleasant Valley 10-9 in overtime then losing to Pottsgrove 9-8. Senior midfielder Jacob Treichler scored the game-winner against the Bears.

The K-Kids will host Bethlehem Catholic on Friday, April 27 and Moravian Academy on Monday, April 30.

The girls’ lacrosse team (2-11) dropped three tough matches to Easton, Scranton Prep and Southern Lehigh. Camryn Devitt, Domenica Lerch, Gillian Rogerson, and Lauren Yeaw recorded goals in all three contests. Ashley Coughlin made 20 saves in the match against the Red Rovers.

Northampton will go for the season sweep against Liberty on Saturday, April 28 followed by a trip to Moravian Academy on Monday, April 30.
