The Northampton girls basketball team didn’t take home any hardware last year, but they were the last local 6A team to survive, making a memorable run in the state tournament.

This year, the NHS girls are seeded seventh and will draw second-seed Freedom in the opening round of their playoffs.

The Pates are led by first team all-star Hailey Silfies and have had some big wins this season, knocking off Becahi earlier this year and going 2-1 against Easton, which is the top seed in the girls 6A bracket.

Kyra Jefferson made the second team.

Meanwhile, the Kids are led by their own first team all-star in Victoria Keenan and Jenna Rogers was named to the second team.

FHS and NHS did not face one another this season.

The girls will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. at Catasauqua. The winner will meet the winner of the Stroudsburg-Allen contest. NHS defeated Allen earlier this season while falling to Stroudsburg this year. Ironically, the Canaries come in as the third seed while the Mounties are the sixth seed. That game is schedule for Monday, Feb. 26.
