High School Football Roundup: Hawks’ Clements throws for 372 yards in win over Liberty

The high school football season has hit the halfway mark. Parkland and Bethlehem Catholic remained unbeaten in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference with wins Friday night.

In the Colonial League, Northwestern routed Pen Argyl for its second straight win this season.

Northampton-Emmaus

The Hornets posted their first shut out of the season with a 35-0 win over Northampton.

Sone Ntoh rushed for a pair of Emmaus touchdowns while piling up 125 yards on 18 18 carries. Noah Breidinger had two carries, both were for one-yard touchdowns. And Hornet quarterback Blake Reed (7-for-15, 100 yards) hit Carlton Lovett for a 30-yard touchdown pass.

The Emmaus defense held the Konkrete Kids to minus-34 rushing yards to help the Hornets improve to 3-2.

Northampton’s Ethan Deiter completed three passes for 108 yards as the Kids fall to 2-3.

Bethlehem Catholic-Liberty

The Golden Hawks scored 21 first-quarter points en route to a 41-7 win over Liberty.

Javon Clements completed 13 of 18 passes for 372 yards and a three touchdowns in the win as the Hawks improve to 5-0.

Daizhun Rhodes caught three passes for 182 yards and a touchdown. Christan Drayton and Tavian Banks also caught touchdown passes. Banks (33 yards, 15 carries) also ran for a touchdown. And Owen Daddona had a 50-yard interception return for a Bethlehem Catholic touchdown.

Liberty’s Nasir Legree ran for 108 yards on 25 carries while catching three passes for 39 yards. Jordan Vazquez returned a kick off 80 yards for a Hurricane touchdown. Liberty drops to 1-4 with the loss.

Easton-Whitehall

The Red Rovers beat Whitehall 56-28. Easton improved to 4-1, while the Zephyrs drop to 4-1.

Freedom-Parkland

The Trojans beat Freedom 23-7 to improve to 5-0. The Patriots fall to 3-2 with the loss.

Pen Argyl-Northwestern

The Tigers got their second straight win after an 0-3 start, beating Pen Argyl 43-14.

Five different Northwestern players hit pay dirt as Tyler Lobach scored on an interception return and a 31-yard pass from quarterback Deven Bollinger (9-for-17 for 201 yards and four TD passes). Ryan Haas, Jayden Allen and Caleb Clymer (3 catches, 116 yards) also caught touchdowns. Phillip Dangello scored on a one-yard run for Northwestern.

Palisades-Catasauqua

The Pirates beat Catasauqua 35-14.

Palisades remains unbeaten at 5-0. The Rough Riders fall to 2-3.

Salisbury-Notre Dame (Green Pond)

The Crusaders scored 28 fourth-quarter points to pull away from Salisbury and win 54-10.

Gerald Grube ran for 151 yards and three touchdowns while catching two passes for 74 yards and a Notre Dame touchdown.

Kyle Pingarelli scored the Falcons’ only touchdown on a 25-yard run. Oliver Stewart kicked a 47-yard field goal for Salisbury (2-3), which has no lost three straight after starting 2-0.
