UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP Parkland Library lists events for new year

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is hosting baby time story time for kids birth to 2 years old 10:30-11 a.m. Jan. 9.

Kids, along with a caregiver, can enjoy favorite picture books, rhymes and games.

The Big Kid Book Club for kids in kindergarten through second grade will meet 5 p.m. Jan. 9.

There will be stories, games and crafts.

Tell library staff of any food allergies a child has when registering.

The Senior Book Club will discuss “Moloka’I by Alan Brennert 3-4:30 p.m. at Luther Crest retirement community, 800 Hausman Road, Allentown.

Join CPA Paul Stocker for a seminar titled “Understanding Annuities” 6:30 p.m. Jan. 10.

Explore how to benefit from annuities.

Toddler story time for kids 18 months to 3 years old is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Jan. 11, 12, 18 and 19.

There will be stories, songs and rhymes.

Preschool story time for kids ages 3 to 5 will be 1-1:30 p.m. on Jan. 11, 12, 18 and 19.

Kids in kindergarten through second grade are invited to the Bedtime Math Crazy 8’s Club 5 p.m. Jan. 11.

Have fun building stuff, running and jumping, making music and a mess.

Play Glow-in-the-Dark geometry, Bouncy Dire and Toilet Paper Olympics.

The movie “Meet Me in St. Louis” will be shown 1 p.m. Jan. 16 at Brown Bag Classics.

Book Quest will meet 7-8 p.m. Jan. 17 to discuss the novel “House Girl” by Tara Conklin.

Teens in seventh to 12th grade are invited to give their opinions about the library while playing games and enjoying snacks at the Teen Monthly Meetup from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 19.

Reservations are needed to attend the Big Kid Book Club, annuities workshop, preschool story time, Crazy 8’s Club, Brown Bag Classics and Book Quest.

All these programs are offered free.

Upper Macungie will host comedy night starring Jimmy Carroll from 8-10 p.m. on Jan. 13 at Independent Park Community Center, 150 Independent Road, Breinigsville.

Also performing will be Tyler Rothrock. Doors open 7 p.m.

Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Curch Road, Breinigsville, is hosting Zumba classes Monday and Wednesdays 6-7 p.m. in the Acts/Galatians room.

Missy Fugazzotto will be the instructor.

Child care will not be provided. There is a per class fee to attend. Bring a towel and bottled water.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1028 Church Road, Fogelsville, and Thrivent will present a financial care after retirement workshop following worship Jan. 15 in fellowship hall.

Kristen Edelman- Weiner and John Ungerman are the Thrivent representatives.

This workshop is open to the community.
