If you are heading out for a brisk winter walk or bike ride, look for the informative signs Lehigh Township Rails to Trails recently installed along the Delaware and Lehigh rail trails.

They can be found along the trail between Slatington and the Cove Road trailheads. One has been placed by the refurbished concrete phone booth, and the other is near the remains of the three-mile dam. Both signs use photos and text to tell some local history relating to the railroads and canal that had run along the river.

The Lehigh Township Rails to Trails members are always looking for people who enjoy the outdoors to join them and participate in activities. The next meeting will be 7 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Lehigh Township Municipal Building.
