Allen/East Allen townships: Tree lighting set for Dec. 10

Kreidersville Covered Bridge Association will hold a tree-lighting ceremony 4:30-5:30 p.m. Dec. 10 at the covered bridge.

Rain date is Dec. 11.

Emily Reinsmith will be directing the Northampton Area High School girls’ choir as they perform holiday songs.

Santa will be there for the festivities.

Hot chocolate will be provided.

Reminder: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1335 Old Carriage Road, Kreidersville, will hold its Christmas cookie sale and holiday variety shop 9-11 a.m. - or until sold out - Dec. 10.

Christmas cookie shoppers may select their own cookie assortments from the many varieties made by members of the congregation. The holiday variety shop features new and gently used holiday items - cards, wrapping, decorations, tree ornaments and crèches - as well as household articles, collectibles, Elvis memorabilia and children’s items.

Items will be offered at half price 11 a.m.-noon.

Homemade candy - peanut butter, coconut cream, butter creams rolled in crushed peanuts, peppermint patties, nonpareils and chocolate covered pretzels - also will be available for purchase.

Governor Wolf Historical Society will present its third annual Christmas candlelight concert 7 p.m. Dec. 11 on the society’s campus, 6600 Jacksonville Road. Keith Brintzenhoff will perform a lively repertoire of English as well as Pennsylvania-German music.

Refreshments will be served.

Brintzenhoff plays autoharp, guitar, dulcimer and banjo. He is founder of the Lyons Fiddle Festival and The Kutztown Folk Music Society.

A children’s Christmas party is being planned for 2-4 p.m. Dec. 17 at Allen Township Fire Company’s social hall, 3530 Howertown Road.

This event is for Allen Township children ages newborn to 8.

Magician Tom Yurasits will entertain.

East Allen Township Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a fundraiser 11 a.m.-midnight Dec. 28 at P.J. Whelihan’s Pub and Restaurant, 3395 High Point Blvd., Bethlehem.

Just mention you are there to support the firefighters.

Fifteen percent of all sales, including takeout, will be donated to the fire department.
