Several Parkland runners competed in Saturday’s PIAA Cross Country Championships meet in Hershey.
The Trojans boys team and the girls team’s Sydney DelVecchio ran in the state’s most competitive cross race.
Leading the way for the boys team was senior Hailemichael Geiger, who capped a stellar high school career with a 42nd-place finish Saturday in a time of 16:52. Parkland’s boys team finished 17th out of 20 boys teams that competed in Class 3A.
Nicholas Bower was the next Trojan to cross the finish line, taking 107th place in 17:19, followed by teammates Sam Morgan (147th, 17:43), Steven Kaleycik (154th, 17:46), Riley Williamson (167th, 17:47), Jacob Ringer (169th, 17:58) and Jonathan Snyder (196th, 18:21).
Parkland, winner of the past two District 11 boys titles, will graduate three seniors from among the seven-member state team, including Geiger, Kaleycik and Snyder.
DelVecchio, a senior who was making her second straight trip to the state championship race, finished 179th Saturday in Hershey.
