Williams

Anna Mae (Mackes) and Carroll Williams of Willow Green, Allen Township, observed their 65th wedding anniversary Sept. 1.

They were married in 1951 by the late Rev. Raymond Heckman at St. James Lutheran Church, 11th and Tilghman streets, Allentown.

In preparation for their honeymoon in 1951, they started to save half-dollars one year before their marriage and accumulated $150. Their honeymoon was a car trip to Florida before interstate highways.

During the week, they visited many then-popular Florida tourist sites: Hialeah, Silver Springs, Cypress Gardens, Bok Tower and Boca Raton.

When they returned to their home in Fullerton, they still had $10 of the $150 allotted for the trip.

Their 65th anniversary was celebrated at the Williams family reunion in June in Virginia Beach, Va., and attended by 23 relatives, including Karen (Williams) and Carl Rago, of Santa Fe, N.M.; Kay (Williams) Roberts, of Newnan, Ga.; David of Leonardtown, Md.; Barbara (Williams) and Chuck Lazenby, of Atlantic, Va.; and Dean and Joanne Williams, of Easton.

The couple has 10 grandchildren: Evan and Emily Rago, of Redwood City, Calif.; Alisa and Larissa Williams, of Leonardtown; Ross of Clermont, Fla.; Katie Lazenby, of Salisbury, Md.; Lauren, of Newtown, Bucks County, and Kelly, Allison and Christine Williams, all of Easton.

They also have two great-grandchildren: Addison Lazenby, of Clermont, and Darren Nieves, of Newtown.
