Oct. 1 high school sports roundup: BC beats WHS in soccer

Here’s our weekend roundup of Lehigh Valley Press high school teams which includes games from Sept. 30 and Oct. 1:

BOYS SOCCER Whitehall-Bethlehem Catholic.

The Hawks beat the Zephys, 2-1 in overtimes.

Bethlehem Catholic’s Joe Hawach scored the game-winner in overtime. David Caccese had the other Golden Hawk goal. Connor Aitken assisted on both goals.

Whitehall’s goal was scored by Henry Toussaint, assisted by Tony Rodriguez.

Goal keeper Tom Corley stopped four shots for the Hawks. Whitehall’s Bailey Luckenbill made three saves.

Allen-Emmaus

The Canaries beat the Hornets 2-1 in overtime.

Dakota Bauer scored Emmaus’ only goal on an assist from Noah Ross.

Allen goals were scored by Edward Barrera and Eduardo Pastrana (game-winner).

Hornet keeper Dylan Sosnow made nine saves.

Parkland-Pocono Mt. West

The Trojans beat the Panthers 6-1.

Six different Parkaland players scored goals, including Conley Hochstetler, Josh Kiser, Mark Stenske, Owen Iacobelli, Dylan Fejes and Zayer Imam. Peter Kwakye-Ackah had the Trojans’ only assist.

Salisbury-Palisades

Patrick Adams’ goal with two minutes and 30 seconds left in the game’s second overtime gave the Falcons a 1-0 win over the Pirates.

Salisbury remains unbeaten (13-0-1 overall, 6-0-1 Colonial League).

FIELD HOCKEY

Northwestern-Salisbury

The Tigers beat the Falcons 5-1.

Northwestern goals were scored by Rachel Koerner, Grace Horn, Allison Costa, Courtney Page and Danielle Schmidt. Assists went to Page (3), Schmidt and Camryn Beers.

Salisbury’s goal was scored by Maddison Jewel, with an assist from Alicia Burkhardt.

Salisbury goal keeper Peyton Stauffer made nine saves in the game as her team was out-shot 15-8.

Liberty-Easton

The Rovers beat the Hurricanes 2-0.

Elle McIntyre had a goal and an assist for Easton.

Liberty goal keeper Maggie Haupt made 10 saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

Emmaus-Allen

The Hornets beat Allen 9-0.

Emmaus’ Reilly McGinnis and Lilly Shook had two goals each.

Pocono Mountain West-Parkland

The Trojans beat the Panthers 8-0.

Parkland goals were scored by Rachel Laird (2), Emily Piston, Helen Flynn, Becca Ventura, Brooke Schutter, Gabby Wilby and Janelle Barna. Assists went to Devyn Anderson (2), Kali Lauer, Michaela Cohick and Taylor Fasnacht.

Nazareth-Liberty

The Blue Eagles beat the Hurricanes 7-2.

Nazareth’s Haven Snyder put in four goals in the win.

Liberty’s Merve Okumus and Alicia Chambers scored goals, while Theresa Cazarrubias and Mia Del Corse had assists.

The Eagles out-shot the Hurricanes 28-7 with Liberty keepers Jessica Becker and Bridget Mac Donald combining for 21 saves.

Palisades-Salisbury

The Falcons beat the Pirates 2-0.

Caylin Meikrantz and Olivia Hoeing scored goals for Salisbury. Holly Bruns had an assist.

Falcon goal keeper Kyra Bruns stopped five shots.
