Lehigh Township: Indianland Garden Club meets Aug. 9 at Hope Lutheran
The next monthly meeting of Indianland Garden Club will be 7 p.m. Aug. 9 at Hope Lutheran Church, located at 4131 Lehigh Drive, Cherryville. Doors open 6 p.m.
The speaker will be master gardener Louise Bugbee, who will lead the program, “Mosquitoes and Ticks - Biology and Control for the Home Gardener.”
The monthly tournament is as follows:
Specimens: gladiola, salvia, verbena, sunflower, marigold, coleus (3 different stems), allium, brown-eyed Susan, foxglove, zinnia, Rose, dahlia, petunia, shrub focusing on flower and shrub focusing on foliage and any other perennial
Houseplants: tropical plant, Jade plant, hanging basket and any others labeled
From the garden: variety of vegetables in a basket
Photograph: gardens away from home
Arrangements: cooling off, an oriental/nageire design, dog days of summer using a dog item, summer memories and a bouquet from your garden
Members, you are reminded to bring in the seedling passed out at the May meeting.

SerVANTS, the community outreach committee of Salem United Methodist Church, 1067 Blue Mountain Drive, Danielsville, is sponsoring a community farmers market 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 13 on the church grounds. Set-up is 8 a.m.
This will be a great place to buy and/or sell locally grown fruits and vegetables, baked goods, fresh eggs and more.
The committee is looking for vendors who wish to sell locally grown produce, garden-related crafts, canned goods, jellies and baked goods. There is no fee, just a donation to the community outreach fund.
Food and beverages will be available on the premise.

Hope Lutheran Church is holding its second annual shrimp boil 4-6:30 p.m. Aug. 20.
Orders will be taken after worship services Aug. 7 and 14, approximately 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. You also can place an order by calling Leslie Daniel at 610-216-1340 until Aug. 14. All orders must be prepaid.
Dinners include half-pound of shrimp, half-pound of sausage, baby potatoes, corn on the cob, salad, a roll with butter, drink and dessert.
Dinners will be available for pick-up or to eat-in inside Kuntz Hall.
Hope’s Helping Hands’ members thank everyone who has supported their events as they continue their ministries of helping others in need.

The 2016 season to browse the Lehigh Township Historical Centre (LTHC) is nearing the last date to visit the museum, Sept. 25.
LTHC is open on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, 1-4 p.m. Admission is free.
Additionally, remember to purchase your fall flowers from Lehigh Township Historical Society. The annual mum sale will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 24 and 1-4 p.m. Sept. 25.
There also will be a bake sale and hot dogs on the grill.
Come out to buy one or more of these beautiful hardy plants, enjoy lunch and grab some goodies to take home.
