Rotarians, Interact Club members prepare snack packs

The Allentown West Rotary Club continues to work with the Parkland School District to provide weekend snack packs to economically disadvantaged students.

Students from the high school Interact Club, under the direction of Kathryn Soldridge, help coordinate and fill the snack packs each month.

As many as 17 students assist the Rotarians pack 170 weekend snack packs for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Food Service Director Lorie Seier and Home and School Visitor Diane Irish play an important role in the distribution of the weekend food supplements to each school building.

This is the third year the Rotarians have offered this service to Parkland and Northwestern students.

This year, more than 1,500 snack packs were distributed throughout Parkland.

The labor is all voluntary. The Rotary Club of Allentown West provides all the food at $7 per unit. The club welcomes financial support from the community and businesses so this worthwhile project can continue during the next school year.

All contributions are tax deductible.
