Ridgeway to play in McDonald’s All-Star Classic
This year’s McDonald’s Lehigh Valley All-Star football game is set for Thursday, June 16.
Parkland’s Nolan Ridgeway will represent the Trojans in this year’s game, which is slated for Thursday at Nazareth’s Andrew Leh Stadium.
“A lot of my teammates have played in this and they said it was a great experience,” said Ridgeway. “My sophomore year I had a bunch of friends that were seniors and they said it was a great time and I really wanted to come out and play for this.”
Ridgeway, who will continue his football career at East Stroudsburg University, was a do-it-all player for the Trojans the last two years. He played receiver, running back, corner back, safety, long snapper, kick returner and quarterback throughout his high school career, which included two years as a starter and three as a varsity player.
He was part of district titles all three years and part of a team that made a run through this year’s state playoffs. He’s excited to play on last football game in the Lehigh Valley before going on to East Stroudsburg University, where he expects to play primarily as a receiver.
“It means the world to me because I’m going to miss high school football more than anything,” he said.
Ridgeway will suit up for the Red team at the McDonald’s game, which includes senior all-stars from Lehigh, Monroe and Carbon counties. They will face a team of senior all-stars from Northampton County schools and Phillipsburg. The game benefits Ronald McDonald Charities.
“You can’t get any better than that,” said Ridgeway. “I think it’s awesome. You get to play football for a great cause and you get to do something you love and help others. I think it’s a very good thing.”
