After not having a team in the Lehigh Valley Connie Mack League, Northampton is back in action.
So far as of late last week, the Kids are 3-3 with all of the games being close.
“Our expectations are positive for this season,” said head coach Steve Kerbacher. “The roster is relatively young but deep in talent.”
Seth Laky and Cole Rufe will lead the way for the pitching staff, which will also need some other arms to step up in what amounts to 15 games in 29 days of the season.
Kerbacher said the offense has gotten off to a slow start, but there have been some bright spots in Anthony Sawarynski, Andrew Kovalchik, Zach Angerman and Laky. Other players to watch are Zach Liggitt, Phil Vooz, Kyle Wescoe, Dan Yellen, Zach Schwartz and Matt Tretter.
Also on the team are Ty Hooven, John Lynn, Max Martinez, Zach Milkovits, Josh Rumble and Jacob Struss.
The top two teams in Lehigh Valley Connie Mack will play for the league title in a best-of-three series with both teams moving on to the state tournament which also features teams from the Bucks-Mont League. Eight other Lehigh Valley teams will square off in four series with the winners of those also moving on to the state tournament in July.
Tom Onosconich and Darren Rufe are assistant coaches for Northampton.
Jonathan Lynn, shown here playing for Lehigh Township last season, is now a member of Northampton's Connie Mack team.
