NOVA auxiliary having Easter bread fundraiser

Special to The Press The Auxiliary of Northern Valley EMS, NOVA, is taking orders for Paska, or Easter bread, which will be available for pick-up on Good Friday, March 25.

Paska is a sweet bread which includes yeast to make it rise.

Choices include one pound or two pound loaves, either plain or with raisins.

Call Julie at 610-262-7749 to place orders by March 14.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will host the Miller-Keystone Blood Center in Memorial Hall 8 a.m.-1 p.m. March 13.

Here is an opportunity to help save lives through a donation of blood.

Call the church office at 610-767-6961 to sign up.

In addition to the blood drive, there will be a soup sale fundraiser to benefit Miller-Keystone, sponsored by the church’s mission committee.

A variety of soups will be available to purchase for take-out in quarts or pints.

Soup does not have to be ordered in advance. Just come and get it that Sunday morning.

Blood donors will receive a free pint of soup as a token of thanks for contributing to the life-saving efforts of Miller-Keystone.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, will distribute palm branches to those who attend the Palm Sunday worship service at 10:15 a.m. March 20.

On Maundy Thursday, March 24, the service will recall the Last Supper. Communion will be shared in small groups around the communion table, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Breast cancer support group will meet at 7 p.m. March 17.

The Youth Group thanks everyone who came to the pancake brunch last month. They report people came hungry and were fed till their bellies were full.

On Palm Sunday, March 20, Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, will recall how people honored Jesus by spreading their clothing and palm branches in the road.

For their present day commemoration, church members will spread new clothing along the center aisle, which will be given to children in the Allentown School District.

The clothing includes components of the school uniforms as well as socks and underwear for needy elementary school children.
