Personnel changes at PSD
Damian Goodman, fourth grade teacher at Jaindl Elementary School, was appointed elementary dean of students effective Sept. 1.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Rod Troutman explained the reason for creation of the new position when it was requested at budget seminar.
"We look at enrollment and try to provide an effective ratio for administrators to work with staff, parents and students," Troutman said. "The student population has grown in our southern schools.
"The principals of the southern schools are finding it more and more difficult to complete the work required of an educational leader.
"With the additional support of the elementary dean, students will receive the proper attention they need when involved with an office referral or problematic situations."
Goodman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Clemson University and an M.Ed. from Kutztown University.
In addition to classroom teaching, Goodman served on the district comprehensive planning committee and the building safety and positive behavior committees at Jaindl Elementary.
At the June 16 meeting, the board approved David Ramsey as supervisor of pupil services at an annual salary of $95,000.
Troutman said Ramsey started as a school psychologist and, with his new position, picks up more responsibilities.
"He will be fully in charge of all psychologists and will report to the director of student services, Brenda DeRenzo," Troutman said.
In addition, the board accepted the resignation of Marilyn Stinebaugh, English teacher and TV studio advisor at Parkland High School, after 30 years service in education.
