Following an executive session, at their May 20 meeting to discuss alleged misconduct of several police officers, South Whitehall commissioners voted to suspend three individuals from their responsibilities for specified times.
Deputy Chief John Christman recommended the suspensions based upon neglect or violation of official duties and inefficiency, neglect, intemperance, disobedience of orders and/or conduct unbecoming an officer, relating to sections 6442 and 6444 of the First Class Township Code.
Commissioners voted to suspend Sgt. Dave Gross for five days without pay and to demote him to the rank of officer.
Recently recognized during National Police Week for 25 years of service, Officer Richard Meckes' suspension consists of two days without pay.
Officer Jason Grozier also received a two-day without pay suspension.
Commissioners granted unanimous approval to all three suspensions.
Chief Thomas Toth declined to comment on the personnel issue.
