Tennis team beats Thorpe

The Northampton tennis team picked up a victory over Jim Thorpe and also fell to Whitehall in recent action.

The Kids used wins from all four doubles teams to pull out the 4-3 victory over the Olympians on April 6.

The number-one doubles team of Tom Reinhard and Carter Test won a thrilling match, losing their opening set 7-6 on a 7-4 tiebreaker to John Lowin and Brett Luicana. But Reinhard and Test came back to win the second set 6-4 and took the third set 7-6 on a 7-2 tiebreaker score.

The number-two team of Ethan Schwartz and Kevin Trinkle edged Luke Carter and Shaun DiCostanzo 7-5 in their first set but won the second 6-0. At number-three doubles, Dom Jackson and Troy Adams took down Chris Widdicombe and Matt Widdicombe 6-0, 6-1. The number four doubles team of Cory Croll and James Marsh also won.

The singles matches didn't got as well for the Kids as they were swept by Jim Thorpe.

Reinhard lost to Lowin 6-4, 6-4. Test fell to Luke Eggert 6-4, 6-0 and Luicana took down Nick Walker 6-0, 6-4 at number three singles.

The Kids lost to Whitehall 4-3 in a match from April 2.

Reinhard was a winner for the Kids at number one singles, beating Alex Rohn 6-4, 6-2. The Zephs would take the number-two and number-three matches as Islam Ahmed beat Noah Neyer 6-0, 6-1 and Gavin Meyers won over Nick Walker 3-6, 6-0, 6-0.

Croll and Marsh won their match at number-four doubles with a close 6-4, 6-4 victory over Hazem Abdelaal and Toby Chan. At number-one doubles, Kyle Herbert-Dunn and Ryan Folland won an eight game pro set 8-5 over Clement Mei and Alexis Anatolio.

At number-two doubles, Schwartz and Trinkle lost 6-0, 6-3 to Max Nuscher and Dan Herrera and at number-three doubles Jackson and Adams fell 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 to Jordan Saliby and Jeremy Lim.
