Fogelsville welcomes new principal

Timothy Chorones of Breinigsville has been appointed principal of Fogelsville Elementary School.

At the Feb. 24 board meeting, district Superintendent Richard Sniscak reported the district received 36 applications for the position.

Twelve individuals were interviewed and four finalists were brought in for consideration.

He said Chorones stood out among all of the other applicants and was chosen by the district's interviewing team.

Chorones' starting date has not been determined.

He replaces Brenda DeRenzo who is assuming the position director of student services, now held by Rob Thornburg, who is retiring at the end of the school term.

Sniscak said DeRenzo will work on the transition with Thornburg and Chorones.

Chorones earned a Bachelor's degree in elementary education, a Master's degree in instructional technology, and an educational leadership and principal's certificate all from Wilkes University.

Presently, Chorones is assistant principal at Upper Perkiomen Middle School.

His previous experience includes teaching fourth and fifth grades in Allentown and Whitehall-Coplay school districts.

Chorones was the kindergarten through grade 12 technology integration coach at Whitehall-Coplay.

Sniscak commented on the new principal.

"Timothy's background, skills and overall personality will complement the Fogelsville community very well," Sniscak said. "He is dynamic, articulate, professional and cares deeply for children.

"His strong technology background enhances his overall skills as an instructional leader and he shares our common goal of improving student learning at every level.

"We wish him the best of luck in his new position and warmly welcome him to our administrative team."

Chorones will earn an annual salary of $97,000.
