Some borough residents have said a man with a pickup truck is combing the alleys Wednesday evenings and early Thursday mornings ahead of borough crews, picking up metals and discarded kitchen items. Borough officials said such a practice is not uncommon in the borough.
The practice brings to mind a man in the 1940s and 1950s who drove a vintage truck, roaming the alleys, blowing a whistle to let residents know of his presence. The man would pay residents for their junk.
