Investigation of missing teen is ongoing

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin has announced the investigation into the disappearance of Robert Keck, 16, of Coopersburg, last seen June 30, 1979, continues.

Martin is asking for the public's help in providing any information about the disappearance of Keck, who attended Southern Lehigh High School.

According to Martin, news reports several weeks ago indicated law enforcement authorities conducted an investigation in Pike Township, Berks County.

Spearheading the investigation is Chief Robert Coyle of the Upper Saucon Township Police Department.

Coyle was the patrolman who took the original missing person's report in 1979.

"Based upon information we received from cooperating individuals, various law enforcement agencies participated in a four-day search in May for evidence in connection with the disappearance of Robert Keck," Martin said. "Unfortunately, that search proved fruitless.

"Today [June 30] marks the 35th anniversary of Robert Keck's disappearance, and I wanted to announce this investigation is still active and police welcome any information that will help to move the investigation forward.

"Law enforcement agencies are still diligently following up on any leads, and it is my hope at some point, we will be able to conclude the investigation and provide Robert Keck's family with answers concerning his disappearance.

"I want to thank all the law enforcement agencies that participated in the search and detectives and police who will continue to follow up on all information that is provided."

Information can be reported to Upper Saucon Township Detective Tom Nicoletti at 610-282-3064 or Lehigh County Detective Joseph Vazquez at 610-782-3831.
