SPA teams win lax titles; SPYA Dominators keep rolling

U13 A - Undefeated League Champions

Defense wins championships and that is exactly what happened for the SPA U13A lacrosse team at the the LVYLL Championship Tournament at Grange Park in Upper Macungie last Saturday. The team completed an undefeated season (17-0) by shutting out two teams and beating Southern Lehigh 8-4 in the championship game. The SPA defense, which included Zachary Fitzgerald, Alex Albertson, Dylan Rahm and James McLaughlin, tamed the high-scoring Spartan offense as the unselfish, potent SPA offense led by Gregory Santa-Anna's six goals was more than the Spartans could handle.

Defense was the key to SPA's success. The defense was led by goalie McLaughlin, defenders Fitzgerald, Rahm, Albertson as well as LSM Polanki. Each player also excelled offensively with Albertson (13 goals, 4 assists), Fitzgerald (5 goals, 7 assists), Polanki (14 goals, 20 assists), Rahm (10 goals, 7 assists), and McLauhlin (7 goals, 7 assists). Albertson also has a game-winning goal during the season. Fitzgerald led the team in ground balls with 108.

Offensively, SPA was led by the attackmen Santa-Anna (50 goals, 46 assists), Baloh (49 goals, 16 assists) and Yannes (76 goals, 69 assists). Midfielders Justin Pasquele (14 goals, 26 assists), Joseph Pasquele (7 goals, 21 assists), Khalife (10 goals, 3 assists), Mason Maxsim (11 goals, 10 assists), Dante Medlar (12 goals, 6 assists), Matt Scandone (10 goals, 10 assists), Sam Schmitt (7 goals, 3 assists) and Ben Dobbs (goal, assist) also contributed significantly to SPA's success.

U13 B RED Team Undefeated League Champions.

The SPA U13 Red lacrosse team completed an undefeated season to with the LVYLL championship.

The team won three playoff game to become champions, beating Pleasant Valley, Northwestern and Upper Nazareth by a combined score of 40-9.

The SPA Red team veraged 18 goals per game this year and its goal against average was less than four per game.

SPYA Dominators 4, LMYA Jayhawks 1

Strong pitching by Tanner Lewis and Devin Yeomans led the way for the SPYA Dominators in a 4-1 victory over the LMYA Jayhawks. Lewis and Yeomans combined to hold the Jayhawks to one run on only three hits while striking out 12 batters. The Dominator offense was led by Bryan Bertsch (3-for-3, R, 2 RBIs, 2 SBs), Nick Johnston (2-for-3, Double, 2 R, RBI), George Hlavac (2-for-3, R, RBI), Ryan Zolotsky (1-for-2) and Yeomans (1-for-2).

The SPYA Dominators beat the SPYA Trojans, 15-4. Offensively, the Dominators were led by Trent Perkins (2-for-2, 2 doubles, R, 3 RBIs, SB), Bryan Bertsch (2-for-2, double, 3 R, 3 RBIs, 2 SB), Nick Johnston (2-for-2, 3 R, 2 SB), George Hlavac (2-for-3, double, 2 R, 2 SB), Devin Yeomans (2-for-3, R, RBI, 2 SB), JT Siggins (2-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 SB), Sheldon Graeff (2-for-3, 2 RBIs), Ryan Hoffman (1-for-2, 1 R, 2 RBIs), Tanner Lewis (1-for-3, double, R, 2 RBIs), Ryan Zolotsky (R), Vidyacharan Bakthisaran (1 RBI), and Mason Frame (R). The Trojans were led by John Rakshys (1-for-2, 2 R), Jarrett Moore (2-for-3, R, 2 RBI), Cristhian Carbajal (R), Jason Nuel (1-for-3) and Andy Ringold (1-for-3).

SPYA Dominators 13, LMYA Green Machine 1

The SPYA Dominators received a strong pitching performance from George Hlavac, Ryan Hoffman and Ryan Zolotsky in defeating the LMYA Green Machine 13-1. The Dominators' pitchers combined to hold LMYA to one run on only four hits. The Dominators received offensive contributions from the entire lineup, including Trent Perkins (2-for-2, triple, 3 R, RBI), Hoffman (2-for-2, 2 triples, 2 R, 3 RBIs), Tanner Lewis (2-for-2, R, 3 RBIs), JT Siggins (2-for-2, double, 2 RBIs), Hlavac (1-for-3, double, RBI), Bryan Bertsch (1-for-1, 2 R, RBI, 2 SB), Devin Yeomans (1-for-2, R, RBI), Zolotsky (1-for-2, R), Brycen Geiger (1-for-2), Vidyacharan Bakthisaran (1-for-2, 1 R, 1 RBI), Nick Johnston (R, SB) and Mason Frame (R).

SPYA Dominators 16, Northwestern Tigers 3

The SPYA Dominators stayed perfect on the season, improving to 12-0 with a 16-3 victory over the Northwestern Tigers. George Hlavac, JT Siggins, Ryan Zolotsky and Ryan Hoffman held the Tiger offense to three runs on two hits while striking out seven batters.
