Catasauqua Column

The Catasauqua Shade Tree Committee reminds residents that it is unlawful to remove, prune or plant a street tree at curbside without the approval of the commission.

A no-fee permit is required in accordance with the Shade Tree ordinance.

To obtain a permit, simply call the borough hall at 610-264-0571 and a member of the commission will assist you.

Don't forget to stop by the Catasauqua Fire Police's flea market May 24 at the fire training grounds on Race Street.

The flea market will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Food and beverages will also be for sale.

Old Home Week 100th Anniversary Celebration in the Catasauqua Park is scheduled for Sunday, June 29, noon to 5 p.m.

There will be arts and crafts, athletic events and tournaments, various demonstrations such as dance and quilting, pool amphitheater, a beer garden and historical displays by the HCPA.

The committee is looking for arts and craft vendors to participate as well as food vendors from local churches, civic, social athletic organizations and businesses to provide food and beverages.

There will be family games and entertainment by local bands.

Tennis and volleyball players are also needed for tournaments.
