Becky Williams, of Whitehall, and Megan Ziegler, of Coplay, participated in the Kutztown University Chapter of the National Broadcasting System that was named Model Chapter of the Year for excellence in service and their high level of achievement and activity. KU also received the grand prize in the Video Promotion category for their 2013 Kutztown University football promo.

STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK

Whitehall resident on dean's list

Alana Costenbader was named to the dean's list for the 2013 fall semester at the State University of New York. Costenbader majors in communication studies. Students with a 3.3 grade-point average or higher with a full course load are named to the dean's list.

Bartine Mummey and Kimberly Pachuta, both of Whitehall, both received master of education degrees as a reading specialist. Adam Marhefka of Northampton received a masterof business administration degree.

UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER

Bath resident on dean's list

Nicholas Nathan Wachter, of Bath, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester. He is the son of Stewart and Denise Wachter and a graduate of Northampton Area Senior High School.

Honor society initiates resident

Alyssa Muthard, of Whitehall, was recently initiated into the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society, Phi Kappa Phi.

CENTRAL PENN COLLEGE

Dean's list

includes residents

Timothy Lahr, Northampton, and Heather Alderman and Joshua Gonzalez, both of Whitehall, were named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester at Central Penn College. To qualify for the dean's list students must carry six or more credits and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or better.

SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY

Michael C. Gaugler, of Whitehall, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester. A student must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking 12 or more graded hours of course credit to be named to the dean's list.

Whitehall resident inducted in society

Anna Lloyd, of Whitehall, was inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society. Lloyd is pursuing a degree in psychology at Pennsylvania State University.

NYU GRADUATE SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

Whitehall graduate recieves outstanding dissertation

Dr. Stephen Lewellis, a 2003 graduate of Whitehall High School received the Dean's Outstanding Dissertation Award for 2013-14 at New York University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He is the son of Canon Bill and Monica Lewellis of Whitehall. His dissertation was in Developmental Genetics.

After graduating from Haverford College in 2007 with a major in biology, where he recieved multiple awards and recognitions and graduated with honors, Lewellis received an invitation from NYU to join 10 other international students in an extremely competitive Medical Scientist Training. The program included an eight-year MD/PhD fellowship.
