The monthly meeting of Northampton VFW Post 4714 will be held Monday, March 31, 6 p.m., at the post home, 1204 Main St.

All active members are encouraged to attend.

Northampton's Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday, April 12, 11 a.m., at the municipal park, Smith Lane and Laubach Avenue. Rain date is Sunday, April 13, 1 p.m.

The event is open to borough children up to age 10. No registration is necessary. Prizes will be given to all participants.

Volunteers are needed to help pack and move the books in the Northampton Area Public Library in preparation for the upcoming remodeling.

Pennsylvania One Book, Every Young Child 2014 is a collaborative project emphasizing the importance of early literacy development in preschoolers. To participate in this effort, the Northampton Area Public Library is sponsoring a family story and craft time featuring "Stripes of all Types" by Susan Stockdale.

There are three time slots: Tuesday, April 8, 10 a.m. or 6 p.m., or Wednesday, April 9, 10 a.m.

Registration for the program is under way. The programs are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. A current library card is needed to register the family.

The Friends of the Northampton Area Public Library will hold a Vera Bradley Bingo Sunday, April 6.

Doors open 11 a.m., and the games begin 1 p.m.

In addition to bingo, there will also be approximately 20 Chinese auction items, a bake sale, door prizes, consolation prizes and a 50/50 drawing.
