Garden Club to meet tonight
The Coplay Garden Club, one of the borough's more active organizations, meets this evening 7 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church social hall, South Third Street.
The organization's sessions include workshops. Tonight's program titled "Floral Design Workshop - Crescent Arrangements" will be presented by Linda Kortz. The hostesses for the program are Kathy Burits, Helen Humanick, Mary Smith and Marilyn Seyfried.
Houseplants featured this evening include philodendron, aloe and oxalis-fake shamrock. Specimens will include one stem of each: crocus, pressed flower, mini-daffodil, snowdrop and one branch each from pussy willow and forsythia.
The agenda includes an artistic tournament titled "Forward March." For the novice, there will be a design using different evergreens in a boot and for the advanced person, the design will use different evergreens in a boot with an accessory complementing the boot.

Although Coplay Sports Inc. baseball and softball registration is now complete, having the children practice on the diamond remains a challenge as the weather has not been fully cooperating.
The organization utilizes its own grounds at its complex off Sixth Street, where there are two ball fields with lights, along with a third spring practice field at Saylor Field. Coaches said before practices begin the fields need to thaw out.
Getting the teenage boys on to Coplay Legion's Sammy Balliet Stadium has not been a pressing concern. Most of the players will be playing high school baseball. After the high school season, they will put on the Legion uniform and begin playing at the stadium.
