Garden club meeting April 2

The Catasauqua and North Catasauqua J4 organization will hold a cash bingo Sunday, March 30, at the Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., from 1 to 4 p.m.

There will be a Chinese auction.

Tickets are available at Schlegel's Dry Cleaners, 120 Race St., or by calling Judy Kisthart at 610-266-5144.

The Catasauqua Garden Club will launch the 2014 garden season 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, with or without snow, at the Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

Char Smith will offer a mixed bag of garden goodies.

Members should have items for judging in place by 12:45 p.m.

The 2014 season starts out quickly with the annual plant sale scheduled for Saturday, May 3 at the Catasauqua Public Library, 9 a.m.

If you are curious about the Catasauqua Garden Club, stop by the first Wednesday of the month for a visit. All garden friendly visitors are welcome!

The Catasauqua Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., will hold a bag sale Thursday, March 27 thru Saturday, March 29.

The store will be closed March 31 for a week of cleaning and changing over to spring and summer clothing.

The store will reopen Monday, April 7.

Catasauqua and North Catasauqua will celebrate July 4 this year with a gala celebration at the North Catasauqua Playground Saturday, July 5, ending with fireworks at dusk.

The J4 committee is asking for donations to help with the cost of fireworks. Donations of $200 or more will be listed on the J4 flier as a special donor. Those who donate $100-$199 will be listed as a red patron; those who give $50-$99 will be listed as a white patron; and those who give $49 and under will be listed as a blue patron.

Make checks payable and send them to the J4 Committee, PO Box 212, Catasauqua, PA 18032.

If your donation is received by April 11, your name will be listed in the J4 flier. If we receive your donation after the April 11 date, it will be listed on a poster at the J4 celebration.

The J4 Committee will meet 7 p.m. Wednesday, Apr. 2 at the legion, 330 Second St., to plan the celebration.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend the meeting.
