Kayla Anderson of Whitehall and Chelsea Aguila of Northampton were named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester at Clarion University. Students must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 for placement on the dean's list.

Local students on dean's list

Three area residents were named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester at Messiah College. Bath resident Zachary Galloway is a junior majoring in economics and accounting.

Coplay resident Jacob Kempf is a senior majoring in music education.

Whitehall resident Taylor Schock is a junior majoring in history with a social studies certification.

Dean's list status is earned by receiving a 3.6 grade-point average or higher.

UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTON

Local residents on dean's list

Jayde Hooven and Katherine Twigg, both of Northampton, were named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester at the University of Scranton. Hooven is a senior majoring in biology and Twigg is a freshman majoring in marketing.

AnnMarie Marzen and Elizabeth Reese, both of Whitehall, were also named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester. Marzen is a freshman nusring major and Reese is a junior nursing major.

HARTWICKCOLLEGE

Mease on dean's list

Nigel Mease of Northampton was named to the fall 2013 dean's list at Hartwick College. Mease is the son of Rickey and Maria Mease and majors in history and political science.

SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY

Resident named to dean's list

Elizabeth Krall, of Whitehall, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester at Susquehanna University. Krall is a senior music education major with a vocal emphasis. She is the daughter of Douglas and Deborah Krall.

The dean's list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or higher.

CENTRAL PENN COLLEGE

Area students on dean's list

Alicia Becker, of Bath, was named to the dean's list for the summer 2013 term at Central Penn College. Becker is majoring in business administration.

William Loof, of Catasauqua, was also named to the dean's list for the summer 2013 term. He is a business administration major.

To qualify for the dean's list students must carry six or more credits and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY

Alyssa Sue Muthard of Whitehall, a student at Kutztown University, was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. To be eligible, juniors must have completed at least 72 credit hours and rank scholastically in the top 7.5 percent of their class. Seniors must rank in the top 10 percent of their class and graduate students must rank in the upper 10 percent of their class.

Alyssa McHale, Northampton, and Connor Bydlon, Whitehall, were named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester at the University of Delaware. To be named to the dean's list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade-point average of 3.33 or above for a semester.

Bath resident performs in choir tour

Eric Flyte of Bath will perform with the Ithaca College Choir during its annual choir tour. Flyte is a senior performance and music education major in the School of Music at Ithaca College. Tour stops include Danbury, Conn., Melrose, Mass., Newton, N.J., New York, N.Y. and Ithaca, N.Y.

Paul Hanna, of Whitehall, Angela Krustick, of Coplay, and David Gilio, of Bath, were named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester at the University of the Sciences. All three students are doctor of pharmacy students. Students must attain an academic average of at lest 3.4 for courses taken in the fall.

ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY

Scholarships awarded

Rea'annna Faggins, Whitehall was granted the Veronica Founder's Scholarship to study psychology at Alvernia University. The $12,000 scholarship is merit based and awarded on a competitive basis. Recipients must have a minimum of 980 SAT scores and a 3.0 grade-point average.

Also at Alvernia University, Melissa Galoway, Bath, has been granted the $16,000 Presidential Scholarship to study occupational therapy.

And Heather Boyko, Northampton, has been granted the $12,000 Veronica Founder's scholarship to study biology at Alvernia University.

HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY

Whitehall resident places second

Kiersten Unagnst of Whitehall was a member of the Hofstra Dance Team which took second-place award at the 2014 Universal Dance Association national championships in Orlando, Fla. The team earned second place in the Division I Hip Hop and Double Jazz competition, as well as fourth-place for Division I Jazz, besides earning second place overall.

BUCKNELL UNIVERSITY

Alyssa Cardillo of Bath was named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester at Bucknell University. She is the daughter of James and Lori Cardillo and a 2010 graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School.

Tejvinder Singh of Whitehall was also named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester. He is the son of Inderpal Chawla and Gurdeep Anand and a graduate of Whitehall High School.

To attain dean's list students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Becky Williams, of Whitehall, and Megan Ziegler, of Coplay, participated in the Kutztown University Chapter of the National Broadcasting System that was named Model Chapter of the Year for excellence in service and their high level of achievement and activity. KU also received the grand prize in the Video Promotion category for their 2013 Kutztown University football promo.

Whitehall resident on dean's list

Alana Costenbader was named to the dean's list for the 2013 fall semester at the State University of New York. Costenbader majors in communication studies. Students with a 3.3 grade-point average or higher with a full course load are named to the dean's list.
