The deadline for organizations, individuals and families to sponsor a street banner in Coplay is quickly approaching. The deadline is Saturday, March 15.

For more information on the specifics of sponsoring a banner and cost, stop by the borough office at South Fourth and Center streets or visit the borough website.

The borough planning commission is heading the project.

The board will next meet 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 in council chambers.

The Coplay Public Library is gearing up for another public book sale Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The library is accepting donations of books. However, no textbooks or encyclopedias are accepted.

Story time at the library will be held Saturdays, 11 a.m. and Scrabble Night, 5 p.m. Monday, March 24.

The private company contracted by UGI has resumed work on replacing gas lines, between Coplay and Center streets. The block is closed to vehicular traffic during the day while crews are working.

The crews will continue the work, block by block, on South Fourth Street, until the project is complete.

Street sweeping originally scheduled March 18 and 19 is being postponed. Borough Public Works Director Dan Pavelko said there are streets in the borough which have an accumulation of snow, not all melted, mainly in places where owners of vehicles had to dig out the snow for parking spaces. He said street sweeping will now take place in May, The dates for the street sweeper to come into town will be announced later. Residents in some parts of town have been sweeping the winter debris from their walks.
