Middle school principals find themselves in a sticky situation

Northwestern Lehigh Middle School students were challenged by their principals during a December 2013 gift card fundraiser.

Students who sold gift cards could place a piece of tape across Principal Laurie Hoppes and Assistant Principal Amy Wahl.

Other students could pay $1 to purchase a piece of tape.

Hoppes said all money raised from the event would be used for student field trips during the school year.

Each principal stepped up on a bench at 11 a.m. and, during the students' lunch period, they could redeem their reward for selling gift cards or pay $1 to tape the principals to the wall.

Fourteen sixth-grade students, 31 seventh-grade students and 16 eighth grade students earned the opportunity for the taping.

At 1 p.m., the bench was removed and the principals found themselves is a sticky situation, taped securely to the wall.
