Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, Schnecksville, is considering hiring a school police officer, reported Bill Dellicker, Northwestern Lehigh's LCTI representative, at the Feb. 19 school board meeting.

Dellicker said officers have been a positive experience at other schools.

SkillsUSA winners attending LCTI were: first place: Heather Berrier, Robert Metzger and Austin Fenstermaker. Placing second were: Melissa Jimenez, Sarah Heiter, Kasey Schaffer and Cody Dalrymple.

Exploring Engineering meeting will be held at LCTI March 11 and 12.

On July 18, there will be an auction of surplus equipment. The Northwestern schools can take any equipment they have to the LCTI auction.

LCTI instructor Ken Midgett was named the C. Thomas Olivo service award recipient. The award goes to an individual who has demonstrated leadership in career and technical education.

Midgett, a plumbing instructor since 2008, advocates continuous improvement and incorporation of technology.

The award comes from the National Occupation Competency Testing Institute.

Northwestern's contribution to the LCTI budget for 2014-15 will be $849,548, plus capital costs of $2,643 and debt service of $180,073.

The academic center requires $32,797.
