Fundraisers planned for Josh Kates

There are three fundraisers planned for Parkland High School football player Josh Kates, who was hit by a car in December 2013.

The first is Jan. 29, when high school faculty and staff will have a chili contest in the high school auditorium.

Students and staff can stop by the auditorium lobby that day for a warm bowl of chili and vote for their favorites at $5 per person.

Each lunch will have a winner declared.

One contestant out of 23 will be named the "Chili Champ" after the final taste test at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

All proceeds will be donated to Josh, who is undergoing rehabilitation treatment.

The second fundraiser, also on Jan. 29, is open to the public.

On The Border Mexican restaurant, Airport Square Shopping Center, is having a "Give Back to Josh Kates" fundraiser during lunch and dinner.

The restauant will give 10 percent of all purchases to Josh for his medical and rehabilitation costs.

Present the flyer, (on the Parkland Football Booster Club webpage. Click on gridiron.) in order for them to make the donation.

The third fundraiser is a charity walk starting at noon Feb. 16 at the Bob Rodale Cycling and Fitness Park, Breinigsville.

The cost is $20 with all proceeds going toward Josh's medical and rehabilitation costs.
