Unless grant funding becomes available in 2014, Whitehall Township's recreation program next year will not see any changes.

Next year's budget will allow for the Camp Whitehall programs. The programs will be held at the Cementon and Fullerton Park & Playgrounds. The camp at the Schadt Avenue Playground is not expected to return. The camp will be combined with the above two camps.

The aquatics will continue due to public support and interest. Also, the free public swim for residents, children and adults, will again be held at the Whitehall High School indoor pool. Swimming pools at Cementon, Parkview at Hokendauqua and Jefferson at Fullerton will also open for the summer.

Grant applications for upgrades at Parkview Pool did not materialize.

The repaving of the Cementon Pool parking lot, projected at $50,000, is the only capital project for next year. The Schadt Avenue parking lot was repaved this year. A plow for a truck utilized by the recreation bureau is also budgeted.

Rental costs for four sites on the Whitehall-Coplay School District campus is budgeted at $45,000.

The recreation bureau has six full-time employees including two groundskeepers, two skilled technicians, a pool technician and bureau Chief Greg Mooney.
