Pat Ritz of Danielsville recently doesn't really want to annoy others.

Her book, "Do You Really Think I Want to Annoy You?" was published in May by WestBow Press.

"This book is about Pat's journey and her search through most of her life for a church where she could fit in, be able to be herself spiritually and not annoy people. In the autobiographical chapters about her life and her searching, Pat hopes she will give [readers] some insight into her personality that has driven her to write 'Do You Really Think I Want to Annoy You?'" reads the back of the book.

When you are bursting at the seams to share the light that now shines in your heart with those you love – immediate family, extended family, church family and friends – it is impossible not to annoy people, said Ritz, 74. She hopes this book will help those in her life and those she has never met to see that the light of God's Spirit is meant to be for everyone.

Two years ago, Ritz began writing the book with her family in mind. She wanted to let them know how she felt about her spirituality, what being "born again" means to her and the problems we have in society today with the loss of Christian values.

"I wanted to write this book mainly for my family, immediate and extended. Like me, my whole family has spent most of their life, if not all at this point, in church denominations that do not teach and preach the Gospel message as the main emphasis of the Christian life," she said.

Two of those Christian values she's referring to are abortion and homosexuality, which she says are controversial subjects.

The issues are not personal in nature, she explained. It has to do with God's law.

"I feel like the Lord wanted me to write this book," Ritz said, "and if it ends up on the best-seller list, that's up to God."

At 17 years old, Ritz attended a church service where she gave her life to God. Ritz said when she tells some individuals she encounters that she's a "born again" Christian, they are shocked.

"Being born again is having a relationship with the living God," she said. "We know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we will live with him in eternity."

That commitment to God, she said, has changed her life forever. Without her strong faith, she wouldn't have been able to make it through a trial period in her life and marriage when her and her husband's son died at age 3 from a brain tumor.

Ritz has been attending Egypt Community Church for the past couple years and said she feels at home there. She said she believes they provide what she's spiritually looking for. With writing and publishing, on the other hand, she still has a little more to learn.

"It's like anything else. It takes time," she said.

Ritz also feels that one has to believe in what he or she is doing. Otherwise, that writer "isn't going to make it," she said.

Ritz has sold around 80 books herself. "Do You Really Think I Want to Annoy You?" is available on Amazon, at Barnes & Noble and through WestBow Press.

"People ask me if I want to write another book," Ritz said. "I'm thinking about it and when I zero in on what that might be, yes, I would like to write another book."
