Santa Claus is comin' to town
Santa Claus plans to visit North Catasauqua on Sunday, Dec. 15, during the North Catasauqua Fire Department's Secret Santa. Imagine the look on your children's faces when Santa arrives on a fire engine and delivers presents to them personally. You've strung the lights, hung up the wreath, and Frosty and Santa are in the yard. Now enter the 7th annual North Catasauqua Holiday Home Decorating Contest and win some great prizes. Winners will be named for first place large residence, first place small residence, second place and third place. Prizes range from $25 to $75 in gift cards and the two first-place winners will receive framed photos of their home.
There is no cost to enter. Participants will have their homes included in a 2013 Small Town USA Holiday Lights Self-Guided Tour to be published in the Catasauqua Press.
The entry deadline is Dec. 17, the day of the judging. Nominate your own home or a neighbor's residence.

Luminary Night is fast approaching. On Saturday, Dec. 14, the borough will be glowing with luminaria candlelight as the North Catasauqua We Sing Chorus hosts this holiday event.
To participate by lighting up your property with luminaria, purchase 10-bag kits at borough hall. This is an annual fundraiser for the chorus, and you will help make North Catasauqua shine a little bit brighter this holiday season.

Luminaria Night will be held at 5 p.m. at the park. There will be trolley rides, hot chocolate, candy canes and goodies, photo opportunities, holiday mascots and Chinese lanterns, along with holiday music.
Volunteers are needed to distribute luminaria kits around town and to light the candles around the borough park. Placement will take place 2-4 p.m. and lighting will begin at 4 p.m.

St. Andrews Young at Heart, Third and Eugene streets, will be meeting Dec. 18 in the church social hall. This month we will be celebrating with a Christmas party after a short business meeting.

The betterment committee and the borough recreation committee are sponsoring a holiday food drive. Help those less fortunate in our community this holiday season by donating nonperishable food items which will be delivered to the Catasauqua Area Community Food Bank. Donations may be brought to North Catasauqua Borough Hall, 1066 Fourth St., during regular office hours on weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A donation box is located in the main hallway.

There are only two additional utility pole snowflake decorations left to sponsor for this holiday season. To sponsor your own snowflake, that will adorn borough streets during the holidays, contact the borough for details.
