Melba Knecht recently celebrated her 100th birthday with a family party. Three generations attended the celebration.

Knecht, a lifelong resident of South Whitehall Township, lived in a log cabin until she was 13.

She graduated from South Whitehall High School in 1931 and met her future husband, Howard, at Goldsmith Purse Factory where they both worked.

The couple married in 1940 and had two sons, Edwin of Allentown, and Robert of Macungie.

Melba's family includes five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
