Anna K. Soltys, a longtime Fullerton resident, looked regal for her 100th birthday.

Wearing a colorful dress, a silver tiara framing her styled hair, she celebrated becoming a centenarian during two birthday parties held at Whitehall Manor over the weekend.

Soltys, who was born in Northampton, became the third resident of Whitehall Manor Assisted Living Facility to reach the 100-year mark.

She smiled Friday as her son, Michael P. Soltys, cut the birthday cake while staff and other residents sang "Happy Birthday."

On Saturday, the day Soltys actually turned 100, another party in her honor took place at the Sixth Street senior living facility.

At this party, 30 family members attended including not only her son but also his wife, Elizabeth; a grandson, Andrew, and his wife, Megan; great-grandchildren Drew Michael and Emma Claire, three nephews, four nieces, several cousins, friends and staff from Whitehall Manor.

Anna Soltys and her husband, Michael, married Oct. 31, 1931. The couple was active in the Fullerton community for many years.

The couple moved to Philadelphia when the elder Michael Soltys was promoted to a management position with Kraft Foods. He retired in 1971, the same year she retired as a data processing operator at Temple University.

After retirement, the couple returned to Fullerton to be close to family and friends. For years, Soltys was a member of the St. Elizabeth Church choir and a member of the Golden Agers.

The couple moved to Whitehall Manor in 2002. The elder Michael Soltys died in May 2004.

Anna Soltys enjoyed traveling, taking trips to California, Jerusalem and Rome, where she saw the pope speak.

Visiting cousins in Sommerville, N.J., during the summer months was a treat. She still looks forward to time spent with her son, his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as other relatives who come to visit.
