No surprises in uncontested races

The vote in Whitehall Township was incredibly close in an uncontested race for township commissioner.

Incumbent commissioners President Linda Snyder received the most votes – with 2,381 or 34 percent. Also running for four-year terms were Jerry Palagonia, who received 2,329 or 33 percent of the vote, and Thomas Slonaker, who received 2,277 or the remaining 33 percent of the vote. The three candidates sought to retain three seats.

Palagonia also won a two-year seat with 1,319 votes as did Snyder, who earned 1,468 votes. These races were also uncontested.

Snyder will be allowed to hold just one seat which means the board will have to appoint someone for the two-year term.

In the race for Whitehall-Coplay School Board, the four unchallenged incumbents were reelected to four-year terms.

Joseph Fragnito topped the vote tally with 2,868, followed closely by Eileen Abruzzi with 2,862. Both figures represent approximately 26 percent of the vote.

Wayne Grim was next with 2,717 votes or 25 percent while Robert Kolb earned 2,625 or 25 percent.
