South Whitehall Commissioners
For the pre-election stories, The Press asked the candidates in the Municipal Election the following question:
Why should voters choose you in the Nov. 5 election?
Christina "Tori" Morgan and Thomas J. Johns both cross-filed for the two, four-year seats open on the South Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners.
Christina "Tori" Morgan
I am currently a commissioner for South Whitehall Township and running for re-election for a four-year term.
I am a graduate of Muhlenberg College and have resided in South Whitehall Township for 15 years and have established my life and family here.
For the past 20 years, I have worked full time in the local government sector, both public and private, specializing in environmental protection and compliance.
As my children continue to grow I have been very active in the local youth sports associations, our church as well as in other components of our local government as member of the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission and the Western Lehigh Chamber of Commerce.
My previous work experiences with the South Whitehall Township Planning Board, my daily job responsibilities, and desire to maintain the beautiful community we call South Whitehall have driven me to continue to want to represent the residents and businesses as a township commissioner.
My goal is to continue to work with our strongest assets (which are you, the residents, business owners, and South Whitehall staff) to make reasonable decisions that benefit the entire community and guide us toward a prosperous future.
More specifically, I would like to support completion of needed changes to our zoning ordinances to meet our township's current and future needs.
By building strong communications with our residents and businesses, I feel we can foster innovative approaches to providing the most efficient and cost effective services for our taxpayers.
For these reasons, I ask for your support by voting for Christina "Tori" Morgan this November during the municipal election.
Let's work toward the township we all envision.
Thomas J. Johns
I have tried to be a good and faithful servant to the people of South Whitehall in my position as a township commissioner these last four years. And I'd be honored for the chance to serve for another term.
Our board of commissioners has framed a township budget without a tax increase.
As a part of that board, I have been available to hear citizens' concerns at commissioner meetings and remain watchful to preserve South Whitehall's suburban character.
